INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup sesame seeds
- 1¼ cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¾ tsp baking soda
TOOLS
- 1 oven
- 1 baking sheet
- 1 cake pan
- 1 saucepan
- 1 serving plate
- 1 wooden spoon
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 350°F for 15 minutes.
Spread the sesame seeds over a baking sheet. Then place in a hot oven and bake for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and remove the baking sheet from the oven to get toasted sesame seeds.
Grease a cake pan with a quarter cup of butter.
Spread half of the toasted sesame seeds over the greased cake pan.
Melt the remaining butter in a saucepan, then add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and 3 tbsp of water. Stir with a wooden spoon for 2 minutes. Cook for 10 minutes while stirring constantly. Then remove from the heat. Add the baking soda to the saucepan and stir with a wooden spoon to get a sugar mixture.
Pour the sugar mixture into the cake pan and set aside for 5 minutes. Then sprinkle the rest of the toasted sesame seeds on top.
Press lightly with a wooden spoon. Set aside for 15 minutes to get a sesame toffee.
Break the sesame toffee into squares with your hands. Then transfer to a serving plate.
