INGREDIENTS
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1¼ tsp salt
- 2 lbs lava beans
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 12 ice cubes

- 1 wooden spoon
- 1 saucepan
- 1 colander
- 1 bowl
- 1 frying pan
STEPS
Peel and mince the garlic. Then chop it into small pieces. Peel fava beans and cut off its skin.
Pour 8 cups of water into a saucepan, add 1 tsp of salt and heat on high. Boil for 4 minutes, then add shelled beans pods. Cook on medium heat for 3 minutes to get cooked beans pods.
Put ice cubes in a bowl and pour 3 cups of water into it.
Transfer the cooked beans pods to ice water to get cooled beans pods.
Drain cooled beans pods in colander.
Peel the beans pods using your hand to remove the outer skin.
Using a frying pan, heat the butter and olive oil on medium heat. Add the garlic to the pan and stir with a wooden spoon. Add the fava beans and stir for two minutes. Cook for five minutes then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Stir once more then remove from heat.
