INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ¼ cup corn syrup
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels
TOOLS
- 1 wooden spoon
- 1 jelly roll pan
- 1 saucepan
- 1 oven
- 2 bowls
- 1 hot air popper
STEPS
Heat the hot air popper to 250°F and add the popcorn kernels. Set it on and wait 3 minutes for the popcorn to form.
Melt unsalted butter in a saucepan. Stir in brown sugar, and corn syrup. Cook for 2 minutes, then turn off the heat, add baking soda, and vanilla extract while stirring continuously to get a granulated sugar mixture.
Transfer the granulated sugar mixture to a bowl. Mix in the popcorn with a wooden spoon until fully coated.
Spread the coated popcorn mixture over a jelly roll pan.
Preheat the oven to 275°F for 12-15 minutes.
Put the jelly roll pan in the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Take it out and give the popcorn a stir.
Transfer the caramel corn to a bowl.
